The visiting students and lecturers were first greeted by the Dean of the Faculty of Life Science Engineering FH-Prof. Ing. MMag. Dr. Anton Sabo and a vice-rector of UAS Technikum Wien FH-Prof. DI Dr. Stefan Sauermann. A brief introduction to the history of the university was followed by an overview of the study degree programmes taught at our university.
After the introduction, the students were guided by Markus Eckelt (Head of competence centre Sports Engineering, Biomechanics & Ergonomics) through the sports-technology laboratories. Here, different approaches to measuring the properties of sports equipment were presented. Furthermore, the students learned about how to record, analyse and present the biomechanical parameters important for the movement process during sporting activity.

The second part of the visit revolved around laboratories connected to medical engineering and integrated healthcare. The head of the competence centre Mathias Forjan led students through laboratories dealing with biomechanics, rehabilitation engineering, and applied optics in medicine. Furthermore, he showed the visitors the importance of having an intensive care unit infrastructure for training and teaching purposes. Next, students were introduced to processes involved in biomedical signal acquisition, processing and other medical-relevant applications by Richard Pasteka. These devices included mechanical ventilators and lung simulators xPULMTM<\/sup> developed at UAS Technikum Wien. Lastly, the students learned about the Austrian electronic health record (ELGA) and the eCard infrastructure from Matthias Frohner. The laboratory tour concluded with hands-on sessions in small groups and a discussion of open questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two institutions, the Brno University of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien, collaborate in research and teaching. Double Degree agreements are available, for example in the study program Medical Engineering & eHealth<\/a> at UAS Technikum Wien.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
