Once again, talented students from the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien have attracted the attention of the international sports technology community. With Benjamin Hennig<\/a> (2nd place) and Michael Karner<\/a> (3rd place), (both Master’s degree program Sports Technology<\/a>), two FHTW-students took the podium at the prestigious International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA)<\/a> award at the beginning of December. The competition recognizes outstanding student projects that promote innovative technologies and their application in the field of sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interdisciplinary education in the Master’s degree course in Sports Technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students from UAS Technikum Wien have already caused a sensation in this competition in previous years. The interdisciplinary education in the Master’s degree program in Sports Technology<\/a> at UAS Technikum Wien offers students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a wide range of specialist areas. This quality of education and the technical expertise of the students have now been impressively demonstrated once again with second and third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking back over the past few years, it is clear to see that UAS Technikum Wien is consistently driving innovation and expertise in the field of sports technology. Last year, a student won this international competition with a pioneering ballet project. Also in 2022, three FHTW students took first to third place with projects in the fields of soccer, salsa dance and mountain biking – underlining the broad spectrum of expertise and interdisciplinary approach to technological solutions for sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Innovation and application of cutting-edge technology in cycling and volleyball<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Benjamin Hennig<\/a> took second place with his project “Human Activity Classification in Beach Volleyball”, in which he took on the challenge of recording and analyzing complex movements in beach volleyball using sensors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s third place winner, Michael Karner<\/a>, impressed the jury with his project “Recognition of movements on the road bike”. The innovation and application of state-of-the-art technology in the field of cycling made this project an outstanding achievement. The aim of this project is to use the acceleration data of a smartphone to recognize various movements on a road bike. In addition to changing the position of the handlebars, the drinking process is also evaluated. The University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien has once again shown itself to be a leading player in sports technology. The constant success of the students in international competitions confirms the first-class education and commitment to innovative solutions in the field of sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
