As part of the GridEdge project, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/personal\/david-fellner\/\">David Fellner<\/a>, head of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/studiengaenge\/master-erneuerbare-energien\/\">master&#8217;s<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/studiengaenge\/bachelor-erneuerbare-energien\/\">bachelor&#8217;s degree programs in renewable energies<\/a>, organized a workshop to bring together key stakeholders and evaluate the need for testing technology for modern DC grids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">The future of DC technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event provided a platform for experts from industry, science and standardization to exchange ideas. Among other things, the focus was on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experiences from real DC pilot projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New technical standards and regulatory frameworks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The increasing role of DC in the energy transition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A student from the Renewable Energy program also participated and gained valuable insights into practical applications. The need for robust testing technology to test DC applications under realistic conditions was particularly emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">GridEdge: Intelligent distribution grids for the energy transition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/forschungsprojekte\/gridedge\/\">GridEdge<\/a> project is committed to the further development of intelligent distribution grids. The Smart Grid Lab at University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien offers an ideal test environment for this purpose, which is being expanded to include the latest testing and measurement technology. The aim is to test future products for grid compatibility and electromagnetic compatibility. In addition, the infrastructure serves as a basis for courses and student projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The successful event impressively demonstrated that DC grids play a central role in the energy transition and how important cooperation between science and industry is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/forschungsprojekte\/gridedge\/\">GridEdge<\/a> project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economics and is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/studiengaenge\/master-erneuerbare-energien\/\">FFG<\/a> program COIN Structure \u201cFH &#8211; Research for the Economy\u201d (9th call).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2
