Under the theme \u201cData \u2013 Market \u2013 Smart Grids,\u201d around 60 experts from research, business, academia, and the public sector gathered to discuss current developments in the field of intelligent energy networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UAS Technikum Wien was prominently represented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/personal\/david-fellner\/\">David Fellner<\/a>, program director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/studiengaenge\/bachelor-erneuerbare-energien\/\">bachelor&#8217;s<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/studiengaenge\/master-erneuerbare-energien\/\">master&#8217;s programs in Renewable Energies<\/a>. In his presentation, Fellner focused on data-driven applications for the power grid \u2013 a field that is not only taught in theory at UAS, but also actively developed in student projects and master&#8217;s theses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Presentation on data-driven grid applications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his presentation, David Fellner highlighted key approaches such as fault detection, state estimation, load disaggregation, and load forecasting. He demonstrated how these methods can contribute to increasing the efficiency and stability of modern power grids \u2013 and how they are being researched and tested through practical research work and the use of innovative laboratory infrastructure at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These topics are not only focal points in everyday student life, but also form the basis for numerous master&#8217;s theses, which are written in close cooperation with industry and research partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Focus on promoting young talent: Master&#8217;s thesis in the \u201cBring your Student\u201d program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another highlight was the participation of master&#8217;s student <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ali-haydar-atasoy-8b762a245\/\">Ali Haydar Atasoy<\/a>, who presented his master&#8217;s thesis as part of the TP SGA \u201cBring your Student\u201d format. His research topic: grid compliance of inverter-based systems \u2013 a highly topical issue that is significantly influencing the transformation of the energy system. Here, too, the new laboratory infrastructure at the Technikum Wien University of Applied Sciences was used, underlining the close integration of education, research, and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Significance of the meeting for Vienna as a university location<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cActive participation in platforms such as TP SGA is essential for us as a university in order to help shape current developments in the energy industry,\u201d emphasizes Fellner. \u201cAt the same time, we can present our expertise, particularly in the field of AI-supported network analysis and modern laboratory experiments, to an expert audience and enter into dialogue with relevant stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Review and outlook<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to providing technical input, the meeting offered numerous opportunities for exchange \u2013 from the workshop \u201cTraining of the Future\u201d to a visit to the Vorarlberg Netz network control center. There was also plenty of time for networking, which came to an atmospheric conclusion with a joint dinner at the Karren panorama restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien would like to thank the Smart Grids Austria technology platform for the invitation and is already looking forward to the autumn meeting on September 30, 2025, in
