On May 9, 2025, the European manufacturing industry gathered in Vienna’s historic Sofiens\u00e4le for Manufacturing Day 2025<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 the central industry event of the ViennaUP<\/em> festival. Over 500 participants from more than 40 countries<\/strong> discussed new ways of collaborating for a sustainable, resilient, and technologically leading manufacturing industry under the motto \u201cCollaborate to Innovate.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a long-standing network partner of the event, the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien was represented as a sponsor and with its own information stand. Organized by the Competence Field Industrial Product Life Cycle Technologies<\/a>, the university presented its teaching, training, and research activities with competence field manager Horst Orsolits<\/a> and Sebastian Rauh<\/a> (lecturer & researcher). Two AR applications used in teaching at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering were presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a platform for forward-looking projects, exchange, and inspiration, Manufacturing Day also offers universities such as the FH Technikum Wien <\/strong>valuable points of contact for current developments and potential for cooperation in research, teaching, and innovation promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creativity meets artificial intelligence: Keynote on \u201cSupercollaboration\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The event kicked off with a highly anticipated keynote speech by James Taylor, internationally renowned innovation strategist, speaker, and author. In his presentation, \u201cSUPERCOLLABORATION \u2013 Accelerating Innovation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,\u201d Taylor impressively demonstrated how the combination of human creativity and machine intelligence is becoming a driver for accelerated innovation processes. His message: it is precisely the interaction between research, industry, and start-ups that will produce the solutions that will secure Europe’s competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Start-ups as catalysts: BoostUp! East 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The morning focused on the BoostUp! East 2025 pitching competition<\/strong>, in which eight start-ups<\/strong> presented their future-oriented solutions for the manufacturing industry \u2013 including concepts for intelligent battery monitoring, AI-supported process optimization, and microbiological innovations for biogas production. The \u20ac5,000 prize<\/strong>, sponsored by the Vienna Business Agency<\/strong>, recognized not only technological excellence but also the contribution to the energy transition in production<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
