Since January 2024, the team of the research project Empathic Vehicle<\/em> has been working on equipping vehicles with the ability to recognize and respond to the body language and emotional states of their occupants. This is based on the latest technologies in the fields of computer vision and machine learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Niklas Fraissl<\/a> and Timothy Berens<\/a> (Junior Lecturers\/Researchers from the Digital Enterprise & UX<\/em> competence field) participated in the AIRoV 2025 Conference in Klagenfurt<\/a> in early July 2025. The event offered inspiring keynotes and presentations on artificial intelligence, robotics, and applied image processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the conference, they presented the Empathic Vehicle<\/a> research project. In the Applied Vision<\/em> section, the project\u2019s first results were presented to an international expert audience and subsequently discussed. The presentation took place in the form of both a talk and a poster session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goal: Seamlessly integrating emotion recognition into vehicle systems<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the Empathic Vehicle<\/em>, the goal of seamlessly integrating emotion recognition into vehicle systems \u2014 thereby significantly improving both road safety and user experience \u2014 is moving steadily closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project \u201cCall Tech4People 2023\u201d \/ Empathic Vehicle<\/em> is funded by the Vienna Business Agency \u2014 a fund of the City of Vienna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project partners: emotion3D GmbH, TU Wien \u2013 Faculty of Informatics, University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien \u2013 Department of Computer Science and Department of Life Science Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
