The EU-PVSEC is one of the world&#8217;s most important scientific conferences for photovoltaic research and technology. The researchers presented the latest results from their work on innovative photovoltaic applications in the building sector in a poster presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Research on building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The poster, entitled <strong>\u201cThe utilization of building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) in the context of environmental labeling,\u201d<\/strong> was created in cooperation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/personal\/stefan-savic\/\"><strong>Stefan Savic<\/strong><\/a> (FH Technikum Wien, Renewable Energy Technologies competence field) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/sune-thorsteinsson-454b973\/\"><strong>Sune Thorsteinsson<\/strong><\/a> (Technical University of Denmark, Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The research focuses on the question of how <strong>Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV)<\/strong> can contribute to sustainable construction methods. BIPV systems combine architectural elements\u2014such as facades, roofs, or sun protection elements\u2014with photovoltaic power generation. As a result, they perform both structural and energy-related functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Contribution to climate-friendly buildings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study shows that BIPV can be a key technology for <strong>nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEB)<\/strong> and <strong>zero-carbon buildings (ZEB)<\/strong>. Particular emphasis was placed on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reduction of CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong> through locally produced renewable energy,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Increased energy efficiency<\/strong> through seamless integration into building envelopes,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Improved sustainability ratings<\/strong>, for example through more precise life cycle assessment methods,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Greater integration of BIPV into eco-labels and energy performance standards<\/strong> to more comprehensively reflect its potential in the building sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The research team is thus making an important contribution to the further development of international guidelines and labels that are intended to pave the way for climate-neutral buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Here is the poster for download:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div data-block=\"document\" data-file-type=\"pdf\" data-file-url=\"https:\/\/media-hp.technikum-wien.at\/media\/20251209150313\/UAS-Technikum-_IEA-Task15-_Poster_A0_EU-PVSEC-2025_v2_st-3-1.pdf\" data-file-size=\"--- KB\" class=\"wp-block-ovl-document\"><p>Download: UAS Technikum Wien: IEA Task15 Poster &#8211;
