Over five days, around 240 scientific papers and 150 posters were presented. The program was complemented by an extensive demo area and keynotes from leading technology companies such as Samsung, Caliverse, and Korea Telecommunications &amp; AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One highlight was the workshop <strong>XR-SPro \u2013 XR Solutions for Smart Production<\/strong>, organized by researchers from <strong>KAIST University, Daejeon, South Korea; MIT, Boston, USA; Georgia Tech, Atlanta, USA; and FH O\u00d6 and UAS Technikum Wien<\/strong>, among others. Around 35 experts discussed ten presentations, one of which was given by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/personal\/horst-orsolits\/\"><strong>Horst Orsolits<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/departments\/industrial-engineering\/\"><strong>Head of Industrial Product Lifecycle Technologies competence field<\/strong><\/a>, on industrial XR applications. The keynote speech by Steven Feiner (Columbia University) emphasized the growing importance of XR-based assistance and collaboration systems. In a concluding discussion round, the potential for new international R&amp;D collaborations was explored \u2013 facilitated by South Korea&#8217;s participation in Horizon Europe calls, which has been open since January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Mixed and augmented reality are developing into key enabling technologies in industry, communication, and cultural technologies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference clearly showed that mixed and augmented reality are developing into key enabling technologies in industry, communication, and cultural technologies \u2013 with rapidly growing innovation potential in international collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During a visit to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaist.ac.kr\/en\/\"><strong>KAIST Graduate School of Culture Technology<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 one of the country&#8217;s leading research institutions \u2013 Horst Orsolits also gave a lecture on <em>Industrial Digital Twins in Robotics<\/em> to master&#8217;s and PhD students studying mechanical engineering and robotics. The lecture was followed by a tour of the Smart Manufacturing Laboratories of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
