This continues a cooperation that has been in place since the program was launched in 2014. This will enable the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien to offer ten additional places in addition to the 60 beginner places funded by the federal government.

“The shortage of skilled workers is a key challenge for our industry. This cooperation should therefore be seen as a signal to further strengthen these training formats and secure them in the medium term,” explains Robert Kaufmann, Chairman of the FMTI Education Committee, at a joint meeting at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien. Sabine Hesse, Managing Director of the FMTI, adds: “The metalworking industry is an industry of the future and offers very well-paid jobs in a wide variety of fields. Graduates of the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien impress in practice and are therefore in high demand. They are the skilled workers we need in the industry.”

“The metalworking industry played a key role in enabling us to establish our mechanical engineering program more than ten years ago. The fact that this support continues is a cause for celebration,“ says Horst Rode, Managing Director of UAS Technikum Wien. ”The cooperation shows that we work with industry and for industry. This close integration is also a quality criterion for our range of courses,” says Florian Eckkrammer, Managing Director of UAS Technikum Wien.

In the bachelor’s degree program at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien, students acquire the necessary know-how to meet the diverse challenges of mechanical engineering in six semesters. In addition to teaching the fundamentals of engineering and natural sciences, the program focuses on the areas of design and manufacturing. Following the bachelor’s program, students can further deepen their specialist knowledge with a focus on digitalization topics in the master’s program in mechanical engineering.

Printable photo:
https://cloud.technikum-wien.at/s/SkgonH7EWAAwsnP
Photo credit: FHTW / Martin Nussbaum

In the photo (from left to right): Horst Rode (Managing Director of UAS Technikum Wien), Sabine Hesse (Managing Director of the Association of the Metalworking Industry (FMTI)), Robert Kaufmann (Chairman of the FMTI Education Committee) and Florian Eckkrammer (Managing Director of UAS Technikum Wien).

More photos of UAS Technikum Wien:
https://cloud.technikum-wien.at/s/WdHJJsCS7MWo5Df

About the Association of the Metalworking Industry
The metalworking industry (MTI) is Austria’s strongest sector and forms the backbone of the domestic industry. It generates a production value of around 45.2 billion euros (2024), directly employs around 135,000 people and thus indirectly secures up to 300,000 jobs in Austria. The export-oriented industry is structured around small and medium-sized enterprises, consists of more than 85% family businesses and is responsible for a quarter of all Austrian exports.

In total, the Metalworking Industry Association represents over 1,100 companies that are active in areas such as mechanical engineering, metal goods, plant engineering, steel construction, and foundries. Around 800 of these companies focus their production on the metalworking industry and apply the MTI collective agreement.

The Association of the Metalworking Industry is one of Austria’s largest business and employer associations and an independent organization within the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.

About the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien
The University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien is Austria’s university of applied sciences for technology and digitalization. Since its foundation in 1994, it has produced around 19,000 graduates. Currently, more than 4,700 students, including over 1,000 women, are being trained in 30 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs to become top executives for the economy. The degree programs are offered in daytime or evening formats. The courses are scientifically sound and at the same time practical. In addition to high-quality technical training, great importance is also attached to economic and personality-building subjects.

Excellent contacts and cooperation with business and industry open up the best career opportunities for students and graduates. Both in teaching and research, the integration of theory and practice is a top priority.

UAS Technikum Wien is a network partner of FEEI – the Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry – and a member of the Alliance for Sustainable Universities.
Further information: www.technikum-wien.at

Link to the mechanical engineering program
https://www.technikum-wien.at/studiengaenge/bachelor-maschinenbau/

Questions & contact:

Dipl.-iur.
