{"id":81629,"date":"2026-04-17T08:44:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T08:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.technikum-wien.at\/?post_type=news&#038;p=81629"},"modified":"2026-04-17T08:44:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T08:44:01","slug":"ihe-europe-connectathon-in-brussels-international-exchange-on-digital-health-solutions","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/content.technikum-wien.at\/en\/news\/ihe-europe-connectathon-in-brussels-international-exchange-on-digital-health-solutions\/","title":{"rendered":"IHE-Europe Connectathon in Brussels: International Exchange on Digital Health Solutions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div data-block=\"grid\" data-is-swiper=\"false\" data-columns=\"1\" data-bg-color=\"transparent\" data-vertical-alignment=\"start\" data-horizontal-alignment=\"start\" data-gap=\"s\" data-padding-top=\"2rem\" data-padding-bottom=\"2rem\" data-small-grid=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-ovl-grid\">\n<div data-block=\"grid-column\" class=\"wp-block-ovl-grid-column\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/studiengaenge\/master-medical-engineering-ehealth\/\">Master\u2019s program in Medical Engineering &amp; eHealth<\/a> at UAS Technikum Wien was represented at the <a href=\"https:\/\/connectathon.ihe-europe.net\/ihe-europe-connectathon-2026\">IHE-Europe Connectathon in Brussels<\/a>\u2014one of the most important international gatherings for interoperability in healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A delegation of graduates, students, and faculty members from the program used the intensive week-long event to actively contribute to key developments in the field of eHealth, network internationally, and advance current research topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Contributions from Practice and Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>FHTW graduate <strong>Nikolas Krond Krondraf<\/strong>, who works at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elga.gv.at\/\">ELGA GmbH (Electronic Health Record Austria)<\/a>, presented the successful Austrian solution for the standardized transmission of radiology images at the IHE Experience Days. His presentation illustrates how interoperable systems are already making a concrete contribution to improving healthcare today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another graduate, <strong>Adnan Marvillo<\/strong>, plays a central technical role at the Connectathon: As a so-called <em>monitor<\/em> on the test floor, he reviews numerous transactions from international software manufacturers and ensures that they comply with IHE standards. This quality assurance is crucial for the effective networking of healthcare systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current research from the program is also represented: Student <strong>Lorisse Cobos-Zardoni<\/strong> is working on her master\u2019s thesis on data quality in secondary data use. On site, she took the opportunity to engage with international experts and discuss current challenges and potential solutions. Together, the delegation participated in the workshop <em>\u201cInteroperability in EHDS Secondary Use,\u201d<\/em> where next steps for the use of health data in the European context\u2014particularly within the framework of the <em>European Health Data Space (EHDS)<\/em>\u2014were developed. The goal is to demonstrate the first concrete applications in practice by the IHE Connectathon 2027 in The Hague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Focus on Future Skills<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Another focus was on the further development of training formats in the field of digital health. Together with <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.technikum-wien.at\/personal\/mathias-forjan\/\">Mathias Forjan<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> (Managing Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/academy.technikum-wien.at\/\">Technikum Wien Academy<\/a> and graduate of the Master\u2019s program in Medical Engineering &amp; eHealth), the delegation contributed to the workshop <em>\u201cDigital Health Future Skills\u201d<\/em> as well as the <em>IHE International Board of Directors Open Meeting<\/em>. Discussions centered on current progress and future strategies of the IHE Education Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This generated numerous ideas for collaborations with European research projects, healthcare institutions, and companies\u2014with the goal of aligning educational offerings even more closely with the demands of a dynamically evolving healthcare sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-ovl-heading\" data-accent=\"true\" data-tag=\"h2\" data-style-level=\"h4\">Specialists for the digital future of healthcare<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The week in Brussels demonstrated impressively that the digitalization of healthcare requires highly qualified professionals who combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of clinical processes and international standards. \u201cThe Medical Engineering &amp; eHealth program makes a significant contribution to this.
