In early June 2026, UAS Technikum Wien hosted AM Austria\u2019s training series for member companies. After the participants arrived, Judith Klamert-Schmid<\/a>, Erich Markl<\/a>, and Albert Benoni<\/a>, together with UAS team, kicked off the morning. Albert Benoni, Head of the Material Science & Mechanical Systems Competence Area<\/a> in the Department of Industrial Engineering<\/a>, then introduced UAS Technikum Wien and the Center\u2019s key areas of focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surface Treatments and Finish Options for Metals and Plastics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the technical presentations, Thomas Gruber<\/a> (Trivion<\/a>) addressed key aspects of workplace safety in metal printing and used concrete examples to demonstrate how protective measures can be effectively implemented. Building on this, Ewald Babka<\/a> (Babka Konsult Engineering Firm<\/a>) presented the range of surface treatments and finish options for metals and plastics, from functional improvements to high-quality aesthetic solutions. During the subsequent Q&A sessions and discussions, numerous topics were explored in greater depth, and areas were identified that the community would like to pursue further in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A group lunch provided an opportunity for networking before a guided tour of the Competence Center further reinforced the practical relevance of the event. The presentation of the center and the tour of its facilities rounded out the event and provided insights into ongoing projects and the expertise of UAS Technikum Wien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additive Manufacturing (AM), known to the public as 3D printing, is one of the key drivers of technological development alongside robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data. Its particular advantage lies in the great design freedom it offers: From electronic components and models to medical applications, fashion, and architecture, all the way to end products with the finest structures, AM opens up new possibilities\u2014and its development is only just beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UAS Technikum Wien would like to thank AM Austria<\/a> and all participants for the intensive exchange and successful collaboration. The event impressively demonstrated how practical expertise and interconnected competencies are driving additive manufacturing forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
