The overall project goal is \u2013 based on a competence network of successful PED approaches \u2013 to enable the focus regions to introduce the first worldwide Local Energy Communities and Sector Coupling based in a holistic approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Based on<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>success-factors from a competence-network of existing PED\/PEN approaches,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>stakeholder needs and motivation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>locally availably technology and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a holistic system architecture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>the optimal organisation and structure of a Local Energy Community will be designed. By the example of two focus regions in Sweden and Austria, a roadmap is developed, where the local energy community is embedded into the whole power system in a secure, responsive and reliable way. The industrial application domains range from implementation in mechanical systems to virtual representations and entrepreneurial engineering models. Despite advancements in sensor technology, artificial intelligence and robotics, creating high-tech applications in the production domain remains a complex challenge. Beyond the technical aspects, the focus also extends to human-machine interaction and the sustainable integration of these technologies into society. In line with this, the competence center offers foundational academic courses for early-semester Bachelor's degree students. These courses emphasize laboratory work and hands-on experience, laying the groundwork for more advanced studies in later semesters. Our projects primarily focus on developing flexible and intelligent production systems utilizing robotic technology and hardware-agnostic approaches. In response to the growing trend toward data-driven and AI-based robotics, these areas have also become central aspects in the competence center\u2019s teaching and research activities.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Teaching: Industrial robotics is an integral part of academic teaching at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien. With strong support from industry partners, the competence center boasts the largest industrial robotics laboratory in Austria. These facilities are further enhanced by the <a href=\"https:\/\/forschungsinfrastruktur.bmbwf.gv.at\/en\/fi\/digitale-fabrik_2811\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Technikum Digital Factory<\/a>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Research: Robotic arms are designed to assist people with challenging, dangerous, or monotonous tasks. However, traditional engineering methods often fall short in achieving this. Additionally, the current shortage of skilled workers makes the integration and operation of robots difficult. Among other things, efficient solutions are being developed for new buildings, but also for existing buildings and neighborhoods in combination with the use of local renewable energy sources. One possible goal here is to generate more energy on site than is consumed (plus-energy buildings\/neighborhoods) in order to be able to operate them in a climate-neutral manner. Furthermore, intelligent solutions for storing and load shifting renewable energy surpluses, e.g. by using the building mass, are being developed. These solutions will help to cover 100% of Austria's electricity needs from renewables by 2030 and support the general Austrian climate targets for 2040, thus actively contributing to the success of the energy transition. Electrocardiography (ECG) and electroencephalography (EEG) compatible microneedle electrodes for long-term monitoring applications are printed with superior signal quality and long-term stability. A high-resolution system is being developed for hybrid printing of conductive and insulating resins, eliminating the need for metal evaporation.
